OSLOB WHALE SHARKS
In Oslob, Cebu, visitors can have the unique experience of swimming with whale sharks, the world’s largest fish. Also known as gentle giants, encountering these massive creatures up close in the water is a truly memorable wildlife adventure. Oslob offers the opportunity to interact with and observe these endangered whale sharks in their natural habitat.
OSLOB CUARTEL & CHURCH
Located south of Cebu, Oslob Church and Cuartel Ruins are among the oldest historical landmarks in the area. The Cuartel Ruins consist of the remnants of a collapsed bell tower floor next to Oslob Church. Made from unusually thick 91cm coral stones, it originally served as a barracks (“cuartel” in Spanish) for Spanish soldiers in the 1800s. Though construction was abandoned when the Americans arrived in 1899, the durable foundation has endured earthquakes and typhoons over the decades. Visiting this archaeological location provides a glimpse into Oslob’s importance during the Spanish colonial era, with the ruins offering insight into military structures of the past.
TUMALOG FALLS
Tumalog Falls is one-of-a-kind, with its crystalline waterfall appearing as a sheet of water cascading down the towering limestone cliff face. Found at the base is a spacious swimming area where visitors can enjoy a refreshing dip beneath the falling curtain of water. What makes this spot extra special is the color of the water in the basin – it has that iconic milky blue hue so synonymous with and famous from Philippine beaches and waters.
THE MIRACULOUS BIRHEN SA SIMALA
The Monastery of the Holy Eucharist, also known as the Our Lady of Lindogon Shrine or Simala Shrine, is a Roman Catholic pilgrimage church located in Sibonga, Cebu, Philippines. More commonly referred to as the Simala Parish Church, it is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The monastery and shrine have become an important destination for pilgrimages in Cebu, attracting Catholic visitors who come to venerate the Virgin Mary at this historic church. Also sometimes called Our Lady of Lindogon, the monastery has taken on multiple names but remains a key religious landmark dedicated to the faith in the province.
CARCAR PASALUBONG MARKET
Those visiting Carcar City can sample some of its famous local delicacies. Topping the list of must-try dishes are chicharon, lechon, and ampao. Chicharon is a crispy pork rind that is deep fried to perfection – it’s both flavorsome and satisfyingly crunchy. Another classic is lechon, or roasted pig, cooked whole until juicy and succulent.
